Proper Storage & Handling

Tortilla Handling Procedures

Tortilla Storage Procedures

Refrigerated Storage
For best results, the refrigerated storage temperature should be between 1-5°C. If tortillas are removed from the box, do not stack more than twice the height of the box. Excessive stacking will cause the tortillas to stick together.

Dry Storage
Tortillas can be stored at temperatures no greater than 30°C for approximately five days. Avoid storing tortillas near any source of heat. Exposure to excessive heat during storage may cause the tortillas to prematurely expire. If the tortillas are removed from the box, do not stack the tortillas more than twice the height of the box. Excessive stacking will cause the tortillas to stick together.

Storage Tips

Be cautious and careful when moving the products. Do not throw the cases.

The package of the frozen tortillas should be located away from the inner wall of the refrigerated warehouse at least 5cm. The space between two piles of products should be no less than 2.5cm.

The receiving date of each batch of products should be written down. The “early in, early out” principle should be followed.

Pile the products according to the characteristics of the frozen tortillas. Pallet board should be installed beneath for the ventilation.

All the frozen tortillas and pre-cut unfried corn chips should be stored in -18℃ and the products should be used up within 24 hours after thawing.

The pre-fried corn chips can be stored in a light proof place with room temperature.

Natural pigments are used for the flavored wraps which need to be stored under light proof condition.
